Explore Playa Vista
Google expanded its L.A. footprint by turning the enormous 319,000-square-foot, 1943 airplane hangar where Howard Hughes assembled the Spruce Goose, into a new, state-of-the-art Google campus. The company also purchased 12 acres of land adjacent to the hangar. Playa Vista is home to other big names in this tech industry including YouTube, Yahoo, and Facebook.
What once served as the runway for Howard Hughes’ aerospace empire is now a thriving center for shopping, dining and entertainment in the heart of the Playa Vista community. Runway includes 33,000 square feet of office space and 217,000 square feet of retail space, including a Cinemark Cinema, Whole Foods and CVS Pharmacy, as well as a wide variety of restaurants, bars and more. Runway is fast becoming "the NEW downtown epicenter" of LA's Westside.
This artistically designed Central Park at Playa Vista has ponds with lily pads, grassy fields and meandering pathways. There's also a basketball court, jogging trails, sand volleyball courts, an area for bocce ball, soccer field, children's playground and an amphitheater for community events.
