Explore San Jose
San Jose has all the amenities of a large city with the charm of a small town; San Pedro Square Market is a San Jose local favorite with fresh farm-to-table food from farmers, crafts from local artisans and live music. This open-air public market includes over 20 unique vendors selling everything from sushi to fresh baked goods to unique art pieces.
Known as "the capital of Silicon Valley," the large concentration of high-technology engineering, computer, and microprocessor companies around San Jose has led to a thriving economy, with many companies claiming to have 1,000 employees or more. In 2014, the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metro area was ranked as the happiest place to work in the USA, citing high salaries and opportunities for growth, in addition to companies providing "fun and innovative work environments.”
Listed on the US National Register of Historic Places and designated as a California Historical Landmark, The San Jose Museum of Art houses 2,000 works of modern and contemporary art including drawings, paintings, photographs, and sculptures, and features 20th century and 21st century works of art created by West Coast artists. The museum is San Jose's original post office that later served as the city’s library.
